Job Title: Senior Data Platform Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Data Platform Engineer to join our Data Platform Team and build the core infrastructure that powers data-driven decision-making across KreditBee. In this role, you will design and develop large-scale backend services and distributed data systems that process billions of events and transactions with high reliability, scalability, and performance. You will work closely with engineering, data science, and product teams to build a modern, self-serve data platform that enables analytics and machine learning at scale.
What You'll Do
Platform Architecture & Engineering
- Design, build, and scale distributed data platforms, backend services, and data infrastructure that are highly available, secure, and cost-efficient
- Architect scalable systems with a focus on performance, reliability, fault tolerance, and observability
- Drive platform-first initiatives and build reusable frameworks that accelerate engineering productivity
Data Infrastructure & Scalability
- Develop and optimize large-scale data processing systems for batch and real-time workloads
- Build and maintain modern data lake and warehouse architectures
- Ensure high data availability, quality, and low-latency access for analytics and business applications
Technical Leadership
- Lead end-to-end technical initiatives from design through production deployment
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices across architecture, code quality, and operational excellence
- Drive technical discussions, design reviews, and architectural decision-making
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product, Infrastructure, Data Science, and Analytics teams to deliver scalable platform solutions
- Align technical strategy with business objectives and future growth requirements
- Influence platform roadmap and long-term architectural direction
What We're Looking For
Educational Background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
Professional Experience
- 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, Backend Engineering, or Distributed Systems
- Proven experience building and scaling large-scale data platforms and distributed systems
Technical Expertise
- Strong experience with distributed data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Trino, Presto, Iceberg, Delta Lake, and modern data lake/warehouse architectures
- Strong programming skills in Python or Golang
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, storage architectures, query engines, and large-scale data processing
- Experience designing multi-tenant, highly scalable, and resilient platforms
Key Skill
- Strong system design and architectural decision-making capabilities
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to balance scalability, reliability, performance, and cost considerations
- Strong mentoring and technical leadership abilities
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills
Nice to Have
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud-native architectures
Advanced Capabilities
- Understanding of distributed consensus, networking, storage formats, and system internals
- Experience building self-service data platforms and developer productivity tools
- Exposure to security, governance, and compliance frameworks in data ecosystems
